{"id":1939,"date":"2016-12-26T18:26:52","date_gmt":"2016-12-26T22:26:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.papaworx.com\/Book\/?page_id=1939"},"modified":"2016-12-26T18:26:52","modified_gmt":"2016-12-26T22:26:52","slug":"10-16","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stuehlingen.online\/Book\/?page_id=1939","title":{"rendered":"10-16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Standard\"> Schmul (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2<\/span><\/a>) had two sons whose unique names, Seligmann (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.1<\/span><\/a>) and Calmeli (Kalonymos, <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.2<\/span><\/a>), stand out from the crowd. By the time they had reached manhood in 1651 and 1655 respectively, their father Schmul was dead <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=1862\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R1862]<\/span><\/a>. Both ranked among the ten most active Jewish merchants in St\u00fchlingen. The two brothers engaged in many joint ventures, but at times they did not shy away from attacking each other physically. Calmeli was fined for dragging his brother around by his hair without good reason <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4830\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4830]<\/span><\/a>. Seligmann \u00a0was under protection from 1651 to 1687 <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4443\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4443]<\/span><\/a>, but only two years later he was dead <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=901\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R901]<\/span><\/a>. Seligmann had a daughter Scheinel, married to Lemble Weyl (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=R1.1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">R1.1.1<\/span><\/a>), and four sons: Boroch (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.1.1<\/span><\/a>), J\u00e4cklin (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.1.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.1.2<\/span><\/a>), Daniel (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.1.3\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.1.3<\/span><\/a>), and Schmuli (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.1.4\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.1.4<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Standard\"> Boroch remained in St\u00fchlingen for only a short time. From 1690 he became a resident of Oberendingen <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=934\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R934]<\/span><\/a> but maintained his rights of passage and of conducting business in the St\u00fchlingen region (Geleitgeld) <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=3623\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R3623]<\/span><\/a>. His brother Daniel is mentioned once, J\u00e4cklin twice; by 1683 their tracks are lost. Schmuli was named after his grandfather. He was under protection in St\u00fchlingen from 1680 to 1717; for the first twenty years he was quite successful, but after 1700 he slowed down. At the time of his death he was destitute <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=3061\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R3061]<\/span><\/a> and the \u201cHoly (Burial) Society\u201d raised objections to his burial, since he had not paid his dues over the years <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=762\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R762]<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Standard\"> Schmuli had three daughters and two sons. His daughter Sch\u00f6nele was married in Bolsheim Alsace; another daughter, Lia, was married in Sulz. His daughter Sara, after an unsuccessful engagement, chose baptism, became Karolina Antonia Hoffer, and within two years married the tanner Franz Anton Keller in Engen.<span class=\"Footnote_20_Reference\"><span class=\"Footnote_20_anchor\" title=\"Footnote: Rosenthal, \u201cDie Judenmission vor 200 Jahren (I).\u201d\"><a id=\"body_ftn33\" href=\"#ftn33\">33<\/a><\/span><\/span> Of his two sons, Seligman (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.2.1.4.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.2.1.4.2<\/span><\/a>) moved to Gailingen.
