He and his descendants dealt mainly with cattle and horses. By 1673 he was paying for protection in Endermettingen <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4294\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4294]<\/span><\/a> and is mentioned for the last time in 1681 <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=58\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R58]<\/span><\/a>. He had three sons: Judele (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.1<\/span><\/a>), Veit (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.2<\/span><\/a>), and Marum (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.3\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.3<\/span><\/a>). Judele (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.1<\/span><\/a>) was under protection from 1677 until 1710, first in Endermettingen like his father <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4406\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4406]<\/span><\/a> and from 1686 on in Untereggingen <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=1409\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R1409]<\/span><\/a>. In 1684 he was involved in his brother Veit\u2019s (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.2<\/span><\/a>) cattle rustling <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=1356\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R1356]<\/span><\/a> and was fined. Judele in turn had three sons: Mayer (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.1.1<\/span><\/a>), Joseph (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.1.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.1.2<\/span><\/a>), and Schmule (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=U1.1.3\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">U1.1.3<\/span><\/a>). These three men are likely the source for the Gailingen legend that Jews from Untereggingen eventually moved there.<span class=\"Footnote_20_Reference\"><span class=\"Footnote_20_anchor\" title=\"Footnote: Rosenthal, Heimatgeschichte der badischen Juden, 75 n2.\"><a id=\"body_ftn16\" href=\"#ftn16\">16<\/a><\/span><\/span> Veit was never under protection in St\u00fch\u00adlin\u00adgen. He lived a tentative existence in Hofwiese <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4742\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4742]<\/span><\/a>, Ofteringen <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=1311\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R1311]<\/span><\/a>, and apparently Donaueschingen <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=1356\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R1356]<\/span><\/a>. He was frequently fined, sued, and involved in physical altercations <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4744\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4744]<\/span><\/a>. After stealing horses, Veit was finally evicted from St\u00fchlingen and moved to Lengnau.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Standard\"><a href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/ft.php?id=1082&amp;ge=m\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/Stuehlingen\/img\/Tree.gif\" \/><\/a> The fourth branch of the Weil clan began with Model (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=F1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\"><span class=\"T19\">F1.1<\/span><\/span><\/a>) in 1673 <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4365\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4365]<\/span><\/a>, when he first came under protection in St\u00fchlingen. He married the daughter of Marum, son of Jekhuff (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=G1.3\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">G1.3) <\/span><\/a><a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4913\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4913]<\/span><\/a>. Model was a native of Tiengen, the son of yet another Marum Weyl:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Quote\">Marum Weyl protected Jew here [<span class=\"T23\">Tiengen] has died in Zurzach, where he had escaped because of the war during past Lent. His widow took her dowry and then some out of the estate, and the rest was inherited by the children and grandchildren out of two marriages, namely Koschelin\u2019s children, a third, Jonele in Ofteringen, Model in St\u00fchlingen, Lamp\u00f6etli in St\u00fchlingen, Schmule and Ephraim in Tiengen. They offered their sister in Metz 100 taler, arguing that the property was small.<\/span><span class=\"Footnote_20_Reference\"><span class=\"T23\"><span class=\"Footnote_20_anchor\" title=\"Footnote: GLA, 224\/216, Erhebung des Abzugs von Verlassenschaften von verstorbenen Juden, December 26, 1678.\"><a id=\"body_ftn17\" href=\"#ftn17\">17<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Standard\"> Model was only moderately successful as a businessman, but he was respected by his peers and served as Parnas in 1691 <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=962\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R962]<\/span><\/a>. He seemed to be sought after to represent other Jews <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4921\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4921]<\/span><\/a> in complex business deals; but he also seemed involved in just about any brawl that occurred <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=4736\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R4736]<\/span><\/a>. Model had three sons: Jonas (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=F1.1.1\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">F1.1.1<\/span><\/a>), Mausche (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=F1.1.3\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">F1.1.3<\/span><\/a>), married to Elckel, daughter of Aberham (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=Z12\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">Z12<\/span><\/a>) <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=691\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R691]<\/span><\/a>, and Jacob (<a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/tree.php?t=F1.1.2\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">F1.1.2<\/span><\/a>). Jonas was under protection from 1699 to 1716 when he moved away without a forwarding address <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=544\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R544]<\/span><\/a>. He must have been married with his own household. Only one cattle transaction and one claim are listed for him. Mausche was partially under protection during the same period. He was jailed in 1703 for being behind in paying his taxes <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=3717\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R3717]<\/span><\/a>, and he too left St\u00fchlingen for an unknown destination by 1717 <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=542\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R542]<\/span><\/a>. Jacob is mentioned only four times. In 1703 he was fined for beating his brother Mausche\u2019s (Moyses) wife with a key <a class=\"Internet_20_link\" href=\"\/Stuehlingen\/doc.php?d=3752\"><span class=\"Internet_20_link\">[R3725]<\/span><\/a>.
